This colourway is so striking and so unsettling all at the same time. It looks like it’s just a jumble of pinks and blues, but there is a weird vibration about it. It’s warm hues juxtaposed with cool hues — and the whole thing feels… wobbly.

Colour // Wobble, by Felicia Lo

It’s been about nine years since I started creating these monthly Club colourways. It was born out of a personal challenge to push my creative boundaries and work to create colour palettes that were interesting, expressive, and intentional. Creating the Club every month taught me the importance of keeping records and dye notes, of experimenting with different base yarns and fibres, of teaching others how to dye, and most importantly, being creative even when I didn’t feel like being creative.

At the receiving end, my hope was that every knitter and spinner would also be challenged to create outside of their comfort zone. The whole point was to learn new things, experiment, and repeat. Now, it’s time for me to create a new creative challenge.

I love that feeling of being a beginner, surrounded by inspiration and possibility. I love taking those first few wobbly steps towards something fresh and new. December will be our last Club delivery for now but I hope you will look forward to our new changes in 2018 as we evolve and keep learning!

Yarn // Superwash Sport

November 2017 SweetGeorgia Club Colourway // Wobble // on Superwash Sport knitting yarn

Superwash Sport is 100% superwash merino spun with a tighter twist into a 3-ply sportweight yarn. Each 100g skein has approximately 328 yards. We love working with this yarn because knitting socks with a slightly fatter weight can make for faster project completion! It’s also beautifully soft and springy for a knitting yarn and could easily be worked up into a shawl or other accessory.

Fibre // Superwash Merino

November 2017 SweetGeorgia Club Colourway // Wobbler // on Superwash Merino spinning fibre

Superwash Merino is 100% superwash merino wool that is delightfully puffy and fluffy. “Superwash” makes it easy care, but can also make it a little more slippery to spin. If you are having trouble holding onto this fibre, perhaps consider spinning it from the fold. Breaking off chunks of fibre and folding it over the index finger of your fibre supply hand can help you manage this slippery fibre!

Each month, we dye a brand new, unique colourway for our Spinning Fibre and Sock Yarn Clubs. This post is all about what we sent out to our members in November 2017.
