Announcing The Crafty Jackalope: Vol. 01 ~ YARN

Bandana Rocks Cowl, by Amanda Kaffka

Earlier this year, Amanda Kaffka of The Crafty Jackalope reached out to me to let me know that she would be launching her first book — a mini collection of knitwear patterns, inspired by our yarns. I was floored, touched, humbled, and excited all at the same time. Amanda and I met years ago when she worked at a local yarn shop and had also started designing patterns and kits with our yarns. She used to come visit our studio when it was down at Main and 4th Avenue, ages ago. I’ve been eagerly awaiting news of Amanda’s launch date, and finally it has come!

The Crafty Jackalope: Vol 1 – YARN is available on Amanda’s website as both a digital download and print edition. I hope you will have a look at some of the gorgeous designs she’s created for her debut book collection:

Patterns

Amanda’s 54-page book includes 7 designs (which can all be purchased individually): Color Fade Shawl, Ribbon Rock Cowl, Portobello Cowl Version 2.0, Honey Stone Cowl, Honey Stone Fingerless Gloves, Royal Flounce Shawl, and Bandana Rocks.

So many great project ideas here! I have long admired Amanda’s cool and contemporary take on knitting. She incorporates texture and colour with accessible construction techniques. It just makes me feel like “I want to wear that AND I can definitely knit that.” The Color Fade Shawl would be fabulous worked up in any of our new or current Party of Five gradient sets. And I have been long partial to the Portobello Cowl, even when it was in Version 1.0.

Dreaming Up Colour Ideas

So I’ve been dreaming up colour combinations to use for my own cowl. I’ve actually come up with twelve different colour combinations that could serve as great starting points, if you are thinking of knitting your own cowl too. Just subscribe to our SweetGeorgia newsletter to get my Portobello colour palette ideas PDF as well as free, exclusive knitting patterns each month:

And from now until August 31, 2016, you can use this code “craftyjackalopeyarn” in our own online shop to get 10% off yarns to use in any of these patterns. What do you think? Which pattern strikes your fancy? Which would you knit first? What colours would you pick? Can’t wait to see what you knit from The Crafty Jackalope collection!
