Knitting, SweetGeorgia

Holding both the the Tough Love Sock and Silk Mist yarns together while knitting these fingerless gloves was simply heavenly.

When a lace weight yarn with a bit of halo, like Silk Mist, and soft fingering weight yarn, such as Tough Love Sock, are knit together, as they are in these chic mitts, the result is a cozy fabric you want next to your skin. Hints of ruched fabric and sleek lines paint the picture of true luxury that we all deserve.

Meg’s Tip for Knitting Vignette

If you’ve never tried the Three Needle Bind Off, then you are in for a treat. It is a lovely way to join live stitches together while creating a sturdy and attractive seam.

Behind the Brilliance: Meg’s Five Faves

  • Fave way to spend the evening after work: My husband just installed a porch swing on our back porch. So you can pretty much catch me ever single day on the swing simply enjoying the cross breeze, watching the kiddos play, or knitting while swaying on that swing.
  • Fave yarn weight: I love knitting with thicker yarns like worsted, chunky, or super bulky especially for larger accessories like scarves and cowls. However, I prefer the look and feel of lighter yarns like fingering and sport for garments.
  • Fave guilty pleasure: Right now all I crave is peace and quiet at my house. This may seem like an easily obtainable thing, but alas it is not. Between the construction on our neighbor’s house on one side and the constantly barking dog on the other side, there is always loud noise from sunrise on. I dream of swinging on that porch swing, sipping my tea, knitting or reading with only the sounds of the birds in the background. Someday… And once that miracle happens, I shall go back to my original claim of how all of my guilty pleasures are food related. Did someone say something about Brie?
  • Fave fall colours: Is anyone truly able to resist the rich golds and toasty oranges in the fall? The colorways Ginger and Pumpkin from Sweet Georgia Yarns remind me of that picturesque drive through upstate New York (to the New York Sheep & Wool festival) in the fall.
  • Fave thing to wear in the fall: Jeans, cozy t-shirt, and either a knit cardigan or pullover and a knit shawl/accessory. My Ravelry queue is overflowing with worsted weight cardigans, pullovers and some scrumptious shawls perfect for the fall. Here’s hoping I will get the opportunity to knit one or two!
