This first month of 2017 has been crazy busy – travel and trade shows, new puppy and new presidential craziness, editorial calendars and planning, holiday packing-up and kids back to school. My head might literally be spinning — Ok, maybe not, but it sure was close there a couple of times, I am sure of it.
When I was mulling over what to knit for my swatch, I knew I wanted something soothing, subdued, strong and comfortable. Like a good, supportive friend to lean on. Or losing oneself in the quiet wind that whispers through the tall trees in the woods. Or as if standing on a mountaintop and feeling the permanence under your feet.
Rusted is a colourwayย that invoked those feelings for me. I also pulled out a little Silver to see how it coordinated.
Using a variation of Bamboo stitch, with a simple yarn over that is passed over two stitches, makes columns of Stockinette stitch become more defined and significant.ย I found myself a little surprised, yet wholly enchanted, with the final outcome. Worked up in CashLuxe Fine, with size 3 needles, the final effect is both ultra-lightweight and “solid” feeling, deliciously soft and while still substantial.
Why don’t you give it a try?

What memories, ideas, or emotions does Rusted (or Silver) stir up in you? What project would you love to make with them?
