Creative Colour Vignette: Anoesis

“a state of mind consisting of pure sensation or emotion without cognitive thought”

Have you ever lost yourself? As in, so completely drawn into the sensation of the breeze, or the lull of drums, or the rhythm of stitches scraping easily across the needles to the point where thought completely leaves the mind? All that is left is the feeling, the emotion, of the moment you are in. All the voices fade away, both external and internal, and you are left in a blissful peace of enjoyment. Perhaps the visual of colour does that for you … imagine walking in that field of poppies, the wind rustling your hair from the creamy morning sky, the soft noise of thick golden stalks rubbing against each other as if bows across violins … And we get to sink into that anoesis, even if imaginary, every time we craft with colour.
