It’s early November here in Tennessee, which means the leaves are only in the middle of shifting from summer to fall. Warm days are still easing us into the approaching cold, with crisp scents and fading blooms. It is one of my favourite months in the south.
Whether it is the way dark evergreens take on a more prominent texture, the pop of orange pumpkins and yellow chrysanthemums decorating the porches down my street, or the sleepy way the sun shoots pink across the dark sky later in the morning, but something about this season softens me.
There might be a rush of hustle and bustle outside as the approaching holidays beckon, but the inside… oh, the inside wants to slow down into making, taking time to savour soft fibres and easy stitches.
