I Couldn’t Resist… Lace Knitting in the Spring

I started a new knitting project - SweetGeorgia Spring Lace MAL 2021

If you’ve been following along my recent Friday videos, you’ll know that me and my current knitting project maybe need a little bit of a break. A bit of a reset. And so, I just started a new knitting project and I think you will all agree that now is the perfect time to cast on for something new.

Right now in Vancouver, it’s the start of this beautiful, sunny spring season. There’s cherry blossoms everywhere (it’s a big thing here), and right now I feel like I just want to be knitting something fresh, something new, something lighter. It doesn’t mean I have abandoned the colourwork cardigan; I’m still going to be working away on that in the background. I just need to rotate a little bit.

In today’s Taking Back Friday, I talk a bit about the projects I’ve been working on lately, and also share the inspiration behind the start of my newest project. It was inspired by our annual SweetGeorgia Spring Make-Along. This past week, April 13th, was the cast-on date and it continues all the way to May 11th. This year’s make-along is a celebration of projects to do with lace. We do a giveaway draw at the end, and you get extra entries into that prize draw if you’ve knit with a lace-weight yarn or knit a lace pattern. If you’re at all interested, join us in the make-along discussion group that’s happening right now over at the School of SweetGeorgia! To get access to the group if you’re not a School of SweetGeorgia member, it’s totally free – you can sign-up with the link: schoolofsweetgeorgia.com/join/make-along/

I would love to hear if you’ve cast on anything brand new for spring, or if you’ve joined us for the SweetGeorgia Spring Make-Along, what you are making. Leave me a comment! We would also love to see your photos up on Instagram – if you’re posting anything from the make-along, add the hashtag #sgyspringmal2021.
