2021 SweetGeorgia Mystery Knit-Along

15 June, 2021

Sunrise at the edge of the harbour, with foamy waves lulling us into meditation, is an inspiration of light, sound, and colour. Rippling water dazzles with prismatic hues and the horizon is illuminating with long striations of sea-touched clouds. Every minute seems to reveal a new sense of wonder and we are called to push off from the docks into the world of adventure and discovery.

Speaking of revelations and being called, it’s time for another SweetGeorgia Mystery Knit-Along (MKAL)! We’re excited that our Designer in Residence, Ruth Nguyen, is the creative mind behind the pattern this year!

HOW DO I PARTICIPATE IN THE MKAL?

Simply purchasing the Quiet Bay MKAL pattern automatically ensures you’ll receive every clue update, as well as the full pattern once it is launched.

All the fun and camaraderie of the MKAL will take place at the School of SweetGeorgia MKAL Forum Group where we’ll have spoiler and chat threads, tutorials, and announcements. If you are not yet an SOS member, access to this chat group is free hereNote: If you are already subscribed as an All-Access member at the School of SweetGeorgia, you do not need to join using the above link – you can sign in as usual using your SOS login.

YARN

We’ve put six colour palettes together to help take out some of the guesswork for you. They are all available as yarn sets HERE. (Note that the pattern is not included in the purchase of a Yarn Set.)

The original sample uses contrasting colours in order to distinguish a variety of stitch patterns (pattern sample was knit in Charlottetown). The results are playful and soft. You can aim for variation in either the tones or the shades of your colour scheme.

  • 1 skein SweetGeorgia Yarns CashLuxe Spark (MC) (420 yds / 384 m per 4 oz / 115 g skein; 80% Superwash Merino Wool, 10% Cashmere, 10% Sparkling Stellina).
  • 2 skeins SweetGeorgia Yarns Tough Love Sock (CC1 and CC2) (425 yds / 384 m per 4 oz / 115 g skein; 80% Superwash Merino Wool, 20% Nylon).

The total yardage used is 1270 yds of fingering-weight yarn. These are the approx amounts of yarn used in the sample: MC – 102g, CC1 – 67g, CC2 – 104g.
