At this month’s April Taking Back Friday Live, there is a lot to share that has been happening at the SweetGeorgia Studio! With renovation work taking place at the Studio, preparing our dye studio to soon move over from our previous location, it’s been an exciting time to see the developments each step of the way. We’ve shared new spinning and weaving courses at the School of SweetGeorgia, and we’re enjoying fractal spinning as part of our Multicraftual Make-Along running from now until the end of July.

- Dye Studio Build: We’re so excited to be in the process of renovations and getting everything set up at our new Studio location. Find more information about where we’re located in Vancouver.
- Starting on May 11th, from 11am-1pm, we’ll have a Knit Afternoon, followed by open shop time until 3pm. This will take place every month on the second Saturday of the month. May’s in-person meetup will be hosted by Charlotte.

- Sunfire Cone Winder to help winding yarns onto cones, helpful for knitting with a CSM and machine knitting.
- Multicraftual Make-Along is taking place now with chat at the SweetGeorgia Discord and SOS Community Forums. From April until the end of July, we’re focusing on fractal spinning. The fibre I’m working with is BFL+Silk in Tanzanite, prepared using a Diz and hand card. You can learn more about this technique from Kim McKenna at Spin a Hand-Dyed Braid Five Ways.
- Now available at the School of SweetGeorgia, Kim McKenna’s Tension Systems online course. Also recently released is my Weaving Overshot on 4-Shafts course.
- Grading Knitwear course, taught by Holli Yeoh, will be coming to the School in June. Be sure to also view Holli’s Fundamentals to Finishing Knits course.
- My Handpainted Warps weaving course is slated to launch at the School this August!
