Join us in the fun of celebrating the 20th anniversary of Kate Gilbert’s highly popular pattern, Clapotis! With a number of indie dyers part of the anniversary celebration, the Clapotisfest also includes a special prize pack for a lucky Clapotis-along knitter. A fabulous (and free!) pattern great for knitters of many levels, the design of this uber popular shawl creates a beautiful drape. The resulting piece feels cozy yet still light.

CLAPOTISFEST AT KNITTY
From Knitty.com: The Clapotis (pronounced “clap-o-tee”) was first published in Knitty’s Fall 2004 issue. It took a while till people noticed it, but soon the pattern was on the needles of almost every knitter with an internet connection. As of September 2024, there were almost 24,000 versions logged in Ravelry’s database, and who knows how many more have been knit, unlogged?
This is the 20th Anniversary of the Clapotis, and so we wanted to celebrate this wonderful, versatile pattern, the woman who designed it – Kate Gilbert – and the work of indie dyers who toil over hot, wet yarn to give us the colors and textures we love so much.
SWEETGEORGIA CLAPOTIS SAMPLE
Our dear SweetGeorgia friend, Deborah Dar Woon, used SweetGeorgia Superwash DK for knitting a studio sample. Highlighting our Eclipse Collection, the Atlantis colourway used gives a beautiful nuance and depth to the shawl. The colours evoke a range of different moods, shifting depending on the lighting in which it’s worn. With the texture of the pattern allowing a beautiful drape, the resulting shawl is cozy yet maintains a bouncy lightness.

We would love to hear from you and see photos of your own finished shawl. Share with us at our SweetGeorgia Discord space, or tag us on Instagram with #sweetgeorgiayarns!
