The name Gefn is one of the numerous names for the goddess Freyja, and likely means “she who gives (prosperity or happiness).” When designing these fingerless mitts, Kristen imagined that “These gauntlets are something that Freyja would have worn while traveling under one of her aliases. The SweetGeorgia Superwash DK has a firm hand with plenty of structure, creating a mitt that retains its shape well, but is soft to wear.”
The Gefn Mitts pattern is part of the new Accessories 2014 issue of Knitscene magazine on newsstands now. Just one skein of Superwash DK in Goldmine was used for these Gefn Mitts.
