Knit City, created by Amanda Milne and Fiona McLean of Knit Social, has become a cornerstone of the Canadian fibre scene. It’s grown from a single Vancouver event into a multi-city celebration. Knit City hosts two events a year, alternating between Vancouver and Calgary in the autumn and Montreal and Toronto in the spring.
Knit Social also curates fibre arts retreats and tours that are designed to bring enthusiasts closer to the heart of their craft. As shared on their website, “our festivals and retreats are where fibre art enthusiasts gather to celebrate the art of making and build friendships that knit us all together.”

KNIT CITY VANCOUVER 2025
Thank you to everyone who stopped by our SweetGeorgia booth and lounge space at Knit City! The weekend was packed with inspiring demos from the School of SweetGeorgia, sharing excitement for new skills and project ideas. Add in hand-dyed yarns, fibres, and all of the amazing vendors filling the event space, and it was a memorable weekend among our fibre arts friends. It’s truly a joy to be a part of the Vancouver maker community and we’re so grateful we had the opportunity to see and chat with so many of you at the show.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to Amanda, Fiona, and all the incredible Knit City volunteers for organizing and executing such a fantastic event—our last gathering at the PNE Forum in Vancouver. We can’t wait to see what the future holds!
