We’re delighted to have one of our SweetGeorgia yarn bases included in the new pattern collection from designers Elizabeth Margaret and Jen Parroccini of One Wild Designs. And as soon as I saw Elizabeth’s new Betty’s Mystique tank, swatching for the project was completely top of mind. Paired with our warm-weather friendly Flaxen Silk Fine yarn, this project is sure to be a new summertime staple.

KNITTING BETTY’S MYSTIQUE
A bottom-up seamless tank with an easy-to-knit all-over texture, Betty’s Mystique features ribbed panels in the front and back which elegantly shape the neck of this piece. For the design, Elizabeth worked with the Glow colourway of our Flaxen Silk Fine yarn in the pattern sample. Looking for a bright and fun pop for this summer, I picked out our Watermelon colourway and began swatching.
After checking gauge, I’ve now started working through the beginning 1×1 ribbing for the bottom hem of the top. Once I’m finished this, the body of the top is worked in a lovely dot pattern which sits against a stockinette backdrop. It gives the piece a subtle touch of texture, catching your eye in these little pauses, also highlighting a 1×1 ribbing that divides to form the straps of the tank.

I think this piece will be really lovely for wearing all spring and summer, pairing it with a cardigan or wearing on its own. Elizabeth has designed Betty’s Mystique to include two different length options so it can be made exactly how you would prefer. There are also lots of options that allow you to customize and configure this for your desired finished tank top size, including three different cup size options plus information on how to determine this measurement.
FLAXEN SILK FINE FOR WARM WEATHER KNITS
Our SweetGeorgia Flaxen Silk Fine yarn base has been a popular choice for many knitters looking for something wool-free and great for wearing in warmer climates. A 65% silk, 35% linen blend, this yarn is a light fingering-weight yarn which works up into a fabric with crisp stitch definition and a fabulous drape. It has a very soft hand and will soften further as the linen wears in. It’s beautiful when worked up into fine-weight projects such as summertime tees and shawls, or woven up into scarves or stoles.

ABOUT ONE WILD DESIGNS
All knitters deserve an excellent fit from their projects, and designers Elizabeth Margaret and Jen Parroccini believe that access to well-fitting, size-inclusive, fashion-forward knits is critical for clothing justice.
Knitters come to this craft for many reasons: as a pleasurable hobby, because their size isn’t adequately served in stores, because sustainability matters to them, or as a way of protesting garment labor practices. Creating patterns and resources that connect knitters to participation in the handmade movement is our commitment to creating the world we want to live in.
