Learn step-by-step how to wind a centre-pull ball by using a nostepinne and a umbrella yarn swift.

Instructions

  • Place yarn on the swift and cut any ties. Ensure there are no tangles in the yarn. Find the end of the yarn found on the outside of the skein.
  • Hold one end of the yarn and nostepinne in your hand and start wrapping the yarn around the nostepinne. Use your thumb to help with the initial placement of the yarn as you begin winding.
  • Wind in a cross pattern from top to bottom, turning the nostepinne frequently. Avoid wrapping too tightly, as it may cause difficulties when removing the yarn later.
  • Reposition your hand to be closer to the ball. Use your first finger and thumb to help guide the yarn as you wind.
  • Once the entire skein is wound into a ball form, tuck the yarn end securely on the outside of the ball.
  • Remove the ball from the nostepinne. You now have a centre-pull ball made from a nostepinne!
