The Ultimate Work-in-Progress

Meet our new baby boy, Russell Isaac Wong, born on a most memorable Remembrance Day Monday November 11, 2013, weighing in at 7 lbs 15 oz and change.

His rather dramatic entrance into the world (42 hours after my water broke, including 13 hours of labour) landed him a spot in the hospital NICU for five days for observation, but we are so blessed that he is perfectly healthy and doing well. Each and every nurse and doctor that we met along the way was like a guardian angel and we’ve been so grateful for the guidance and wisdom from all of them. Our families have been incredibly supportive and helpful, providing us with home-cooked meals every day that we stayed at the hospital. It is such a relief to finally be home together now and getting to know our little night owl, Russell.

For those of you who didn’t know I was expecting, don’t worry, you couldn’t have known because we didn’t make a pregnancy announcement. Despite an uneventful, easy pregnancy (except for the pregnancy-induced carpal tunnel syndrome… that really sucked and still does), we didn’t want to share the news until Russell was safe at home with us.

So, if you’ve been trying to reach me… this is where I’ve been. I’m giving myself a sort of cobbled-together maternity leave (kind of a Westernized zuo yuezi where I pick and choose the rules) over the next few months but that doesn’t mean anything has changed at SweetGeorgia. The whole crew at the studio has brilliantly come together over the past several months to ensure that SweetGeorgia runs like clockwork whether I’m in the studio or not. I’ll be at home, working from home, and working on my newest work-in-progress.
